Harmonic and Lyrical Bliss

I've been obsessed with finding new songs for my IPod lately. One day I woke up and my old standbys just weren't enough. I've been pretty lucky with my searching too... thanks to Pandora, Shazam, and my wonderful friends with fantastic musical taste! Actually, it really nailed it home that my friends and I don't discuss music the same way we discuss books and movies we enjoy. Odd. I will definitely attempt to throw it into the mix of conversation topics from now on because I was amazed at how many new/old songs and bands I discovered once I asked what everyone else was listening to these days. Not to mention the sudden insight I was given into the lives of my friends and what gets them through their ups and their downs. My playlists are now overflowing and I've spent more money on Itunes in the last week than I typically do in a month or two.

Just in case anyone else is in search of some new tunes to please the eardrums, here are a few of my recent favorites, both old and new, that get me through the long work days and frequently grace my car stereo:

"Civilian" by Wye Oak

"The Stable Song" by Gregory Alan Isakov

"Black & Blue" by Miike Snow

"Eskimo Boy" by Strange Talk

"Young Blood" by The Naked and Famous

"The Story I Heard" by Blind Pilot

"Rebellion (Lies)" by Arcade Fire

"We Can't Be Friends" by Lorene Scafaria

"Dance Yrself Clean" by LCD Soundsystem

"Electric Feel"  and "Time to Pretend" by MGMT

"White Blank Page" by Mumford & Sons (their album, Sigh No More, is fantastic!)

"Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy

"Beautiful Things" by Ming & Ping

"Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye

"Sweet Serendipity" by Lee DeWyze

I imagine I will continue to find more songs worth sharing so look for updates in future posts. Until then though, feel free to comment back with any other song suggestions you may have. You can never have too much music!

Random Fact About Me #104: The first and only concert I've ever attended was during my sophomore year of college in Idaho and was for the band KoRn. Loved it!
